ESC - Global Volunteering

Background 

Gençsen enables European and local youth to get together in our organisation and engage with each other and local kids. Since its creation, it aims to create safe and free spaces where youth can get together, learn, and practice sports. The organisation's main objective is to promote social inclusion and integration by working together with youth, teachers, and sports trainers.

ESC Volunteers have a crucial role in the Gençsen daily activities. They work at the side of the Gençsen team and the Local Volunteers. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Gençsen team in planning the weekly activities, daily administration of the organisation, and filing the relevant documents for the projects;

  • Supporting sports coaches during the activities at schools;

  • Spread awareness about EU opportunities, European Solidarity Corps, and Erasmus+ Programs.

  • Participation in social local activities;

  • To organize awareness-raising training/activities;

  • Creating social media content about volunteerism;

  • Organizing social events with the local community;

  • Teaching English to adults and children.

 

Requirements

The most important qualities of our volunteers have to be the willingness to operate in an international context, enthusiasm, and open-mindedness.

 

  • High motivation to be a volunteer;
  • Between the age of 18-30;
  • Ready to get friends with the local, immigrant, and refugee youth/kids;
  • Open to learning from different sides and ready to teach different perspectives;

  • Interested in sports or have the potential to get interested;

  • Love to be in the intercultural learning environment;
  • Willing to learn Turkish language and culture ready to teach own culture as well; 
  • Open-minded and flexible, ready to work as an individual or in different teams;
  • Available for the whole duration of the project dates.

 

As it is in all ESC projects, our ESC volunteers receive pocket money, food money, travel reimbursement, transportation money, as well as insurance. Also, volunteering at Gençsen offers a great opportunity to work at an international NGO and live with different people in Turkey. Thanks to different projects that our organisation coordinates or partners with, our volunteers get the chance to gain several skills and competencies.
